Jakarta Governor Encourages Public to Report on Public Gatherings

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Governor Anies Baswedan encouraged Jakartans to report on any public gatherings near them amid the social restriction imposed by the Jakarta city government. He offered platforms such as the JAKI app and 13 other platforms meant to handle similar reports.

The Jakarta governor mentioned this from his official Instagram account @aniesbaswedan; “Immediately report your finding of a mass gathering via Cepat Respon Masyarakat ya! By reporting, you have contributed to protecting your neighborhood and the spread of COVID-19.”

In the same post, the governor also offered other alternatives to file a report such as sending direct messages to his personal Twitter and Facebook accounts or by calling 1708. Every report will be handled after a complete chronology is obtain from the person who filed the report, adding images as pieces of evidence will also be helpful.

As of today, the official government website, corona.jakarta.go.id recorded the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the city has reached 1,443 cases with a 10 percent mortality rate (141 deaths). The city will also be imposing a large-scale social restriction (PSBB) protocol to combat the spread of the virus.
