TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Central Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said his side and West Java Police agreed to impose a curfew in an effort to intensify the effectiveness of the social and physical distancing.

“We agree to launch a curfew. The Regional Police Chief has agreed as long as we make the coordination,” said Kamil as quoted from a press release on Monday, April 6.

Kamil claimed he had demanded regions to set up the night-hour limit. “We instruct regencies or city administrations to immediately impose a curfew, which is a part of the disciplinary process and the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) in West Java,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kamil said he was not yet able to submit the proposal for declaring the PSBB status, as he was still awaiting the results of the rapid tests in several regions. “If the data are incomplete, we will have difficulties completing the requirements to the central government,” he said.

The results of the Covid-19 rapid tests are necessary to map the transmission of the novel coronavirus in West Java, which serves as the basis to propose the implementation of PSBB in the province to the central government.

He then asked regions to immediately report the rapid test results. “I urge regional heads to check with their respective health office to submit the reports soon. The faster the data come in, the easier for us to map it,” Ridwan Kamil remarked.
