TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said four-month salaries of civil servants (PNS) in the provincial administration will be reduced to help the mitigation of the coronavirus outbreak that caused Covid-19.
“West Java state civil apparatus (ASN) has had a pretty high pay hike since January 2020. The cut percentage will be calculated as fairly as possible. It will not be burdensome. We are far more fortunate than other professions,” said Ridwan in Bandung, Monday, March 31.
He claimed the ASN was willing to have their pays dropped to help combat the pandemic. The salary cut was valid for governor and deputy governor as well, he added.
“We start this appeal of the help movement from ourselves. It is being arranged. We will donate salaries or allowances of PNS, governor, and deputy governor,” he said.
However, Ridwan stopped short of detailing the exact amount of the pay cut, underlining that it will be adjusted proportionally, fairly to the financial capabilities of the workers.
“Hopefully, this is part of the efforts to defend our country by us, state civil apparatus of West Java, for the next four months,” the governor added.
Ridwan Kamil opined that the coronavirus outbreak should be the responsibility of all parties, including state civil apparatus in West Java province.
