TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's Security Maintenance Agency Chief Comr. Gen. Agus Andrianto said that Jakarta Police’s internal affairs division (Propam) was investigating a policeman who recently held a lavish wedding party amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“Jakarta Metro Police Propam has commenced the investigation. They are on it,” said Agus when asked for confirmation on Wednesday, April 1.

Wedding photos of a police officer in a Jakarta hotel circulated on social media seized the public spotlight. Many netizens denounced the event as it was held in the middle of the pandemic.

Besides, police in regions actively raided events that gathered people, including wedding receptions.

From the circulated photos, the wedding party took place on March 21, displaying the bride and groom walking under the arch of saber, which is a common procession done on weddings of a military or police officer as the groom.

Other than photos, several videos related to the wedding party also went viral on social media, including video footage of an influencer performing a Tik Tok dance.
