TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto said that his Chinese counterpart had offered help to the Indonesian Government to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

"I have already talked with the Chinese Defense Minister, he asked about our needs. I have sent him the list, but I don't know what will be met later," said Prabowo at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta, Monday, March 23, 2020.

According to Prabowo, this was a form of international cooperation. Moreover, China had experience in dealing with the outbreak.

Prabowo said that among the medical devices needed for treating COVID-19 patients were ventilator equipment, rapid coronavirus tests, complete test kits, and personal protective equipment for medical personnel.

Previously, a total of 12 tons of medical equipment from China arrived in Indonesia on Monday, March 23, 2020. Prabowo said that they will be distributed to hospitals treating COVID-19 patients.

"We will distribute them soon to hospitals and this will be carried out continuously," Prabowo concluded.
