TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The amount of Dengue Fever patients that undergo treatment in Bekasi City hospital has increased significantly since the rainy season. Hence the hospital started to do anticipation if there is an increase in patients.

"Until now, we still can handle it," said the Deputy Director of Medical Services in Bekasi City Hospital, Dr Niken on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, related to the latest Dengue Fever situation.

She published the data of Dengue Fever patients from January until March 11 that has reached 149 people, with details of 108 children and 41 adults. The number of patients continues to increase every month. In January, it was recorded around 26 people, then it increased significantly in February, becoming 68 people, and in early March until March 11 around 55 people.

"We have more than 150 beds for adult and more than 100 beds for children,"

She also said that those capacities do not included extra beds that can be used in an emergency. But, this far, she said, the availability of the beds for Dengue Fever patients is still enough. "As one of the government hospital, we always ready to give a service," she said.

She added, the phenomena of the Dengue Fever patients increase is due to the changes in the weather from dry season to the rainy season that can increase the breeding of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes.

The Head of Bekasi City Health Agency, Tanti Rohilawati, said that the spread of Dengue Fever first happens in West Bekasi, then followed by Rawalumbu and Pondok Gede. "The very effective prevention is mosquito eradication (PSN) in their own house," said Tanti.
