TEMPO.CO, JakartaActing Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said that dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) has increased to more than 500 cases in Jakarta. He noted that the biggest increase occurred in South Jakarta.

"It’s an upward trend, especially in South Jakarta," Heru said when met in West Jakarta on Monday, March 25, 2024.

Therefore, Heru asked the public to conduct fogging and maintain hygiene. "Implement wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands routinely," Heru said.

Heru suggested wearing long-sleeved clothes, long pants, and mosquito repellent for children doing outside activities. He also asked the public to cooperate with the government if they find dengue fever cases.

Based on cumulative data on the distribution of dengue fever cases from the Ministry of Health as of March 18, 2024, the total number of cases has reached 35,556 cases. The five provinces that contributed the most cases are West Java with 10,428 cases, East Java with 3,638 cases, Southeast Sulawesi with 2,763 cases, Central Kalimantan with 2,309 cases, South Kalimantan with 2,068 cases and Lampung with 1,761 cases. The total number of deaths caused by dengue fever has reached about 290 cases.

In Jakarta alone, the Health Office noted that there have been around 1,700 dengue cases from January to March 18, 2024. DHF cases are expected to increase until next May.
