TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) together with the National Movement to Safeguard the Ulema Fatwa (GNPF) and the 212 Alumni Brotherhood (PA 212) plan to hold a demonstration in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) Building, Central Jakarta, on Friday, February 21, 2020.

Chief of the PA 212 Media Center Novel Bamukmin stated the rally dubbed the 'Action 212 Eradicating Corruption Mega Save NKRI’ will be held as a response to the emergence of many corruption cases in Indonesia.

Novel Bamukmin claimed that about 100,000 people from civil organizations would join the street protest. He also said a number of public figures would be present. "They're the 212 ulama, namely from FPI, GNPF Ulama, PA 212, and leaders of other mass organizations."

In a press release sent by Novel, the demonstration by PA 212 will demand the investigation of corruption cases that have been stalled. The cases allegedly involved in higher-up officials, such as regional heads and law enforcers.

The Jakarta Metro Police have received a notification letter on the planned rally. The police have not determined the number of personnel to be deployed to safeguard the action.

"We need to coordinate (the number of personnel), don't know yet," said Jakarta Metro Police Chief of Public Relations Head Commissioner Yusri Yunus at his office, South Jakarta, on Thursday, February 20, 2020.

Yusri explained the number of security personnel needs to be adjusted to the number of the rally participants, in order to avoid discrepancies. However, he made sure the police force would always be ready to secure the PA 212 demonstration regardless of the number of participants.
