TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Until 2020, there are still 46,725 plots of state-owned land, measuring 275 thousand hectares, that remain uncertified. The government targets that all land with the status of State Property (BMN) are to be certified within the next 3 years, until 2022.

"This is a challenging work plan," said the Ministry of Finance’s Directorate General of State Assets, BMN Director Encep Sudarwan, in a press conference held at the Ministry of Finance Office, Jakarta, on Friday, February 14, 2020.

From the ministry's records, there are 99,793 plots of state-owned land. Of that number, only 53 percent or 53,068 plots of state-owned land were certified. The government is targeting to be able to certify another 15,426 plots of state-owned land in 2020.

Of the 15 thousand plots of land, most are located in South and Central Kalimantan, with 2,238 plots of land, while another 1,978 are in Central Java and Yogyakarta. Then, there are 1,624 plots of land in South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi. The rest are scattered in other provinces.

According to Encep, the government continues to accelerate efforts to certify state land in order to clarify the state ownership status of the land. Without certification, state land is prone to being sued by other external parties. In addition, the government could also lose the opportunity to utilize the land to generate income for the nation.
