TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman proposed additional state expenditure (ABT) of Rp5.83 trillion although this year, the ministry has only absorbed 63.77% of the budget, or equal to Rp9.45 trillion.
"The Ministry of Agriculture is proposing an additional spending of Rp5.83 trillion in 2023," he said during a working meeting with Comission IV of DPR on Wednesday.
For information, the total budget mapped for the Ministry of Agriculture this year amounted to Rp14.82 trillion.
Amran claimed that the purpose of this proposal is to boost rice and corn production through various measures. "[The budget is] for planting acceleration, boosting rice and corn production through fertilizer and seed, farming equipment, fertilizer, and pesticide procurement, and optimizing swamp areas as well as providing incentives for field officers," Arman added.
During the working meeting, Amran also mentioned that his side has consulted the Budget DG of the Finance Ministry, which said that the proposal is likely to be realized in part this year.
"Thus, it is recommended for the ministry to reprioritize its budget in 2024 so the remaining fund could be proposed again as an ABT next year," he said.
