TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has appointed Grace Natalie and Juri Ardiantoro as Special Staff to the President on Wednesday, May 15.
Ari Dwipayana, the Coordinator of the Presidential Special Staff, confirmed this to Tempo via a short message. The assignments for Grace and Juri are effective as of today.
“They were both summoned by the President to receive their assignments as Special Staff to the President of the Republic of Indonesia,” Ari said.
However, he did not elaborate when asked if there were any special reasons or considerations for the appointment of Grace, a senior politician from the Indonesian Solidarity Party.
Juri, meanwhile, is a former chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU). He has served as an expert staff at the Presidential Staff Office (2018-2019) and as the deputy chief of the Presidential Staff for Political Information and Communication (2020-2023).
Grace refused to disclose her meeting with the President but admitted that she received a certain position in the government.
“I’ll share it later. In the meeting with Pak President, there is also Pak Mensesneg (State Secretary),” Grace, who is now the deputy chair of the PSI's advisory board, said.
The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) is currently led by Jokowi’s youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep.
