TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial administration admitted there was a blunder on the letter from Governor Anies Baswedan to the State Secretariate Ministry in light of the permit to use the National Monument of Monas area for Formula E.

City secretary Saefullah suspected there was misinformation when the Jakarta administration noted the recommendation from the Cultural Heritage Expert Team (TACB) in the governor's response letter on the Formula E race, which is slated to take place June this year.

“It is just misinformation,” said Saefullah at the City Hall, Jakarta, Friday, February 14.

He also dismissed speculations that the TACB recommendation mentioned in the letter was manipulated, as alleged by Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) speaker Prasetio Edi, as TACB said it never issued any recommendation on it.

However, Saefullah balked at commenting further, saying that the city’s Cultural Affairs Agency had clarified the issue. “The Cultural Affairs Agency has explained it yesterday,” he said shortly.

Earlier, the Cultural Affairs Agency head, Iwan Mardhan, said that the city administration was granted the recommendation to hold the Formula E race in the Monas area from the Jakarta Restoration Team (TSP), not the TACB.

“The recommendation is only released by the Cultural Affairs Agency based on the consideration of TSP and TACB,” said Iwan on Thursday, February 13.
