TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Religious Affairs Ministry’s secretary-general, Nur Kholis Setiawan, issued a public apology for wrongly appointing a Muslim state-official as the acting director-general of the Catholic Community Guidance (Bimas).

Nur Kholis admitted his carelessness upon advising the Religious Affairs Minister and Deputy Minister.

“I truly apologize for my mistake,” said Nur Kholis in a written statement on Tuesday, February 11.

To put an end to the polemic, Nur Kholis said the religious affairs minister Fachrul Razi will reappoint the Catholic Community Guidance acting-director general and inspector-general to members of each compartment.

“On Tuesday, February 11, there will be a new issuance letter for the Catholic Bimas acting-secretary general and inspector-general from internal working units which refers to the circular letter (SE) BKN No.2/SEA/1/2019,” said Nur Kholis.
