TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police have formed a team to hunt down the suspected briber of General Elections Commission (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan, Harun Masiku, and helped the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrest Harun, who remains at large to date.

“We have formed a team to track him down,” National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Argo Yuwono said at the National Police Commission headquarters in Central Jakarta on Friday, January 24, 2019.

Argo asserted he would not disclose any development of the search to the public. “If we disclosed them [developments] and the suspect knew and relocated, then what?”

Harun previously resided at the Bajeng Permai housing complex’s J Block No. 7. Some of the locals who happened to pass by his house said they heard the voices of someone they believed to be Harun on January 15, 2020.

Harun Masiku allegedly promised Wahyu Setiawan Rp 900 million to smooth his way to become a House lawmaker through the inter-period substitution mechanism. The KPK is presently looking into this case.

KPK chief Firli Bahuri said he had called the police for help in finding Harun Masiku’s whereabouts. “Of course we have cooperated and synergized with the police. We also have sent a letter to ask the police for assistance in the search and arrest, including his identity,” he said on January 20, 2020.
