TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air Group is anticipating the spread of coronavirus through international flights to Wuhan (China) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). Prevention efforts are applied to international flights served from and to Kuala Lumpur and Tianhe International Wuhan Airport in Hubei, China.
"This is an effort to ensure the safety, security and comfort of air travel for both the cabin crew and passengers," Lion Air Group's corporate communications strategist Danang Mandala Prihantoro said in an official statement in Jakarta, January 24, ANTARA reported.
Lion Air recommends providing and spraying of disinfectant spray, "as well as providing masks, hand gloves, and gel or liquid hand sanitizers to prevent cabin crew from getting infected," he said.
The coronavirus outbreak first happened in China's Wuhan City, just in time when millions are preparing to travel for the Lunar New Year holiday, which elevates the risk of transmission.
Outside China, the coronavirus has infected four people in Thailand. Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United States each detected one patient.
Meanwhile, Malindo Air and AirAsia have canceled all flights from Kuala Lumpur to Wuhan until further notice.
Indonesia's Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto urges people to remain calm while maintaining hygiene and implementing a healthy lifedata-style.
