TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Transportation Agency is applying traffic engineering following the construction project of Senen underpass in Central Jakarta that has been commenced recently.
The route diversions take effect on both lanes, the east and the west side, due to the narrowing of the roads affected by the project.
“Traffic flow on the east direction (Pulogadung) bound for the west side (Tugu Tani or Gambir) initially allowed to take a right turn in Senen intersection through Jalan Senen Raya can pass the alternative road by directly heading straight to the west to Jalan KKO Usman Harun,” said the agency secretary Masdes Arougi in a written statement on Thursday, January 23.
Vehicles from the west or Tugu Tani heading to Salemba is directed to go straight and make a U-turn in the existing underpass and go left in the Senen intersection, Masdes added.
Masdes then called on the road users to stay vigilant about the route diversions.
The alternative routes have been set since the issuance on Thursday and will last until the completion of the construction project, which is targeted on December 30, 2020.
The city’s Bina Marga agency explained that the project of the Senen underpass that connects the existing one is aimed at accommodating vehicles from Pulogadung towards the north. The underpass is expected to start for operation in 2021.
