TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi said that autonomous vehicles and electric cars will operate in the new capital city in order to create a better environment.
"I also have a big dream that we'll be the first capital with electric cars and autonomous vehicles as mass transportations. So, everything will be cheap," the president said in his speech during the inauguration of HIPMI officials for the period of 2019-2022, at Raffles Hotel, Central Jakarta, January 15.
Widodo asserted that the relocation of the capital would not only moving the government offices. But there would be a change in the work patterns and cultures. The government will implement a system to support the program through more advanced transport, among others.
"So, others will follow our system. What we want is a change of work culture; not just relocating buildings, places, it's not it," he said.
The new capital will be located in two regencies of Kalimantan, namely Penajam Passer Utara and Kutai Kartanegara. Currently, the competition, held by the palace, to design the city is currently ongoing.
Jokowi even asked HIPMI officials to support capital city relocation.
