TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir said indiscriminate decisive actions need to be applied in handling the Jiwasraya state-insurance corruption and bad investment case.

He also appreciated the work of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) for swiftly handling the case.

“In terms of the Jiwasraya case, indiscriminate decisive actions need to be applied to seek justice and reclaim the public’s trust toward corporations,” said Erick Thohir on Tuesday, January 14.

Previously on Tuesday, the Attorney General’s Office named five suspects in the case incriminating the state-insurance firm. The suspects are Hanson International President Director Benny Tjokrosaputro, former Asuransi Jiwasraya financial director Hary Prasetyo, Trada Alam Minera president commissioner Heru Hidayat, Jiwasraya’s head of investments and finance Syahmirwan, and Jiwasraya former president director Hendrisman Rahim.

The AGO has also blocked 10 other individuals from traveling overseas as these people are strongly suspected to be involved in the Asuransi Jiwasraya corruption case that potentially scathes the government up to Rp13.7 trillion loss.

Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin says Jiwasraya has allegedly failed to follow rules on responsible investing as the suspects are believed to have invested in high-risk assets for high returns.
