TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the arrest of the Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan over graft, Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) urged the Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK to develop alleged involvement of all actors behind the case.

“[That allegation is evident from] the order of a PDIP central executive board official to an advocate named Doni to file a material test of Article 54 of KPU Regulation No. 3/2019 on voting and vote calculation,” said the ICW researcher Donal Fariz in a written statement, Friday, January 10.a

During an investigation, the anti-graft body discovered that PDIP and KPU had communicated via letters regarding the trading of the House of Representatives (DPR) seats. ICW considered the process a sign of the party’s involvement in the graft case.

In fact, Article 426 (3) of Law No. 7/2017 on elections stipulated the KPU’s authority on the replacement of elected legislative candidates.

On Thursday, January 9, Wahyu Setiawan was named a graft suspect for allegedly receiving Rp600 million from PDIP politician Harun Masiku to help the latter clinching a seat in the DPR.

However, KPK was still tight-lipped to publish the name of the PDIP politician instructing the advocate Doni, who was not named a suspect for his role in the said graft case.
