TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin said that his office has no plan to question former State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno in the Asuransi Jiwasraya default case. The AGO, he said, will first take statements from witnesses leading to criminal acts.

So far, Burhanuddin said, the AGO hasn't found any relevance between Rini Soemarno and the Jiwasraya criminal case. He said that the AGO might take statements from Rini if the statements from current witnesses head towards her.

"But so far now there hasn't been any [links]," he said on Wednesday, January 8

According to Burhanuddin, his staff had questioned 98 witnesses, from which the AGO found indications of acts against the law, with pieces of evidence bagged.

Despite the AGO's suspicion of who is responsible for the Jiwasraya case, Burhanuddin said he cannot reveal the suspects yet — waiting for the BPK's loss calculation.

"We have an idea of who did it, but we cannot reveal it to the media just yet," he remarked.

He said the Attorney General's Office had also conducted a search of about 13 objects, but they did it discreetly.

"To be honest, we do not want to reveal too much for now, and we are still waiting for the result of an investigation from friends at BPK," said Burhanuddin.

Burhanuddin added that the investigation of the case involved more than 5,000 transactions, so it takes a while. He is targeting to be able to reveal the suspects within the next two months.
