TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Firli Bahuri outlined there are at least three main focuses on combating graft crime during a discussion with National Police Chief Gen. Idham Azis.

Firli conveyed his statement after he and four colleagues, Nawawi Pomolango, Lili Pintauli Siregar, Alexander Marwata, and Nurul Ghufron, visited National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta. The meeting was held in private for about an hour from 10:35 a.m.

“As mandated in Presidential Regulation No. 54/2018, there are three focuses that we must work together with institutions including National Police,” said Firli on Monday, January 6.

Firli explained the first focus is on how the anti-graft body and the police improve the accountable, transparent, and corruption-free service and trade system. “This is based on the KPK’s main work as noted in Article 6 (a),” he added.

The second focus is on the management of state finance. “We’d like to praise the National Police for getting unqualified opinion (WTP) on its financial statement for six consecutive years. We must appreciate this,” Firli remarked.

He went on to say that his side talked about law enforcement and bureaucratic reform with the police that he deemed it could not work alone. “We must build synergy and develop a great partnership,” he added.

In response to Firli’s statement, National Police Chief Gen. Idham Azis welcomed the ties with KPK and opined such synergy must be continued. “We and the Attorney General Office will later discuss an MoU renewal,” said Idham.
