TEMPO.CO, Denpasar - State-electricity company PLN Bali distribution unit recorded at least 1,364 poor houses in the region have not been electrified as of November 2019.

General manager of the corporate’s regional distribution unit, Nyoman Suwarjoni Astawa, said his side will seek solutions for the problem. “Most of them so far get electricity from their neighbors,” said Nyoman Astawa on Tuesday, December 24.

At present, Nyoman Astawa said his corporate was collecting independent funds from its employees to help those poor households to have their own electricity network.

However, given the fact of the high number of lack of electrification in the province, he hoped the government could pay attention to the matter.

“Houses that are still getting electricity from their neighbors are mostly located in Karangasem Regency, Bangli and followed by Buleleng Regency. In Karangasem, there are 5,349 families,” Nyoman added.

He went on to say that one of the problems often complained about by Bali people is the high cost for the registration as a PLN consumer. “It costs about Rp632,500 including for the installation. I hope regional administration will participate in this and encourage investors through CSR funds or public funds,” Nyoman said.
