TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police uncovered a syndicate of illegal drug distribution operating in Sumatra and Java island. The police arrested two dealers attempting to distribute 210 kilograms of crystal meth in Jakarta, which were hidden under other items in a car.

“The team earlier nabbed DM in Ciputat on Friday, December 20. At that time, DM’s partner ran away using a motorcycle,” said Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus at National Police Hospital, East Jakarta, Tuesday, December 24.

The police developed the case and nabbed DS in Ciloto, West Java two days later. DS testified that he obtained hundreds of kilograms of the methamphetamine from D in Sumatra.

“DS revealed the location of other wanted perpetrators but he attacked the officer [to escape] while on the way. With measured steps, the suspect was incapacitated with a gunshot,” said Yusri.

Police had rushed DS to the hospital, but DS could not survive. At present, the officers were still tracking down other fugitives.

Based on the police examination, DS was a recidivist of a similar case. He had four times smuggled illegal drugs to Java from Sumatra. DS and his group reportedly planned to distribute the crystal meth on new year’s eve 2020.
