TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police’s public relations chief, Grand Commissioner Asep Adi Saputra says there are at least 25 police members from the Bandung’s Kota Besar police precinct involved in the Tamansari eviction that will be questioned by the internal affairs division (Propam).

“They will be investigated in terms of knowing how far the standard operating procedures have adhered [and] also for other possible violations. We will announce it soon,” said Asep at the national police’s criminal investigation agency (Bareskrim) headquarters on Monday, December 16.

The investigation is commenced after several videos went viral online and social media showing a number of police members physically abusing residents of Tamansari. Numerous videos show both police and military members involved in the alleged abuse of authority.

Other videos also show a large group of policemen physically persecuting local residents at the Balubur Town Square (Baltos) main enclosure, which is located near where the Tamansari eviction took place.
