TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus ensures the safety in National Monument or Monas, Central Jakarta, as the police have reopened the site for public after the explosion of smoke grenade injured two military personnel this morning.
“Yes, [the area is] safe. It is starting to back to normal,” said Yusri in Monas, Tuesday, December 3. He added that the public can now resume their activities in the national park areas as usual.
Tempo observed the situation has returned to normal. The mound of land is seen covering the explosion site, which is located in the jogging lane in Monas across the Home Affairs Ministry office.
Until noon, only a few people visited the area, except the press who dominantly pack the site, which is frequently used for a morning jog.
Jakarta Metro Police chief Insp. Gen. Gatot Eddy Pramono also called on the public to remain calm following the explosion. He said that people can already use open space and resume their activities as normal.
