PSI's William: DPRD Sanction a Risk to Push for Transparency

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) member William Aditya Sarana declared he would not back down from his struggle to push the Jakarta administration to be transparent in its budget policy.
The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) politician also asserted he was not afraid of the possible sanctions that might come his way and deemed that as a risk that he faced as a legislator.
“I am not fazed one bit. I assert this once again, that my aim is to pressure the Jakarta administration to be open about their budgeting,” said William Aditya at his press conference today at DPRD’s PSI faction room.
He made sure that the interest of the entire Jakartans were much bigger than the verdict that was fallen upon him. “Up until this moment, the PSI faction is still waiting for the budgeting data to be publicly announced,” he said.
Previously, the DPRD honorary board deemed William Aditya Sarana guilty of committing a minor violation of exposing the city’s irregular budget plan. One high-stakes case was when he unraveled what is now known as Jakarta’s Aibon glue budget fiasco.
