TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Soekarno-Hatta Airport train temporarily halted its operation following a fire incident at Pesing, West Jakarta, today afternoon, Oct. 30. The flame burned down residents’ houses near the railway.

“The fire broke out at 09:45 a.m. and affected the railway, so the operation must be stopped,” the Soekarno-Hatta Airport station head Siswanto told Tempo today.

Siswanto explained the fire was still being extinguished, and the railway near the site was closed. “We could not ensure yet when the fire fighting would be completed,” he added.

According to him, the fire which was allegedly caused by external factors affected the train operation. Passengers crowding the airport station were directed to board other transportations.

As many as 70 trains daily serve the route from and to Soekarno-Hatta airport with a total passenger amounted to 7,500 per day.
