TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) faction member of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD), William Aditya Sarana, questioned an unreasonably high budget of Rp82 billion for the purchase of glue listed in the city’s 2020 budget ceiling as proposed by the Education Agency.

The brand of glue, Aica Aibon, was used for attaching wood and other hard materials, yet also known as substances sniffed by children to gain a ‘fly’ effect as replacement of drugs.

“Aibon glue is purchased for 37,500 children in Jakarta. By means, Education Agency supplies two cans of glue for a child per month,” said William on his Instagram account @willsarana, Tuesday, October 29.

According to William, the public was not yet able to access the document of the 2020 Jakarta Regional Budget Draft (RAPBD) through the official website apbd.jakarta.go.id, while in fact, the discussion had been commenced in the Jakarta Council.

However, William claimed that his party was able to get access to the file. “Then we found a quite odd budget, the purchase of Aibon glue worth over 82 billion by the Education Agency.”

The PSI politician then demanded Jakarta provincial administration explain the excessive budget for the glue procurement. “Why our students get a supply of two cans of Aibon glue monthly? Please explain this."
