TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Religious Affairs Fachrul Razi says the deradicalization program that he composed is a well-prepared option that undergoes many steps to avoid false arrests and prevent the abuse of authority.

“I have said it many times, there will be steps and will not randomly strike on someone,” said Fachrul at his office in Jakarta’s west Lapangan Banteng on Friday, Oct. 25.

According to Fachrul, the issue of overcoming acts of radicalism is a personal request from President Jokowi in the inaugural Cabinet meeting on Thursday, October 24. However, he said that the programs are still being formulated at the Religious Affairs Ministry.

Jokowi, in the inaugural Cabinet meeting, requested for Fachrul Razi to put forth the value of tolerance and overcome radicalism through a soft approach. The president also requested the ministry to promote tolerance and tranquility.
