TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The technology and commerce platform Zilingo has launched a decentralized manufacturing program to empower women that run micro-businesses called SheWorkz.

Responding to the launch, Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution says the program has created new fashion clusters and lifedata-style.

He believes that the program will be able to reach new segments within society that are in need of support.

“I believe that women in the garment manufacturing industry will get the benefits of the program and vocational training given by Zilingo, and also the venture capital loans distributed via micro-credit program (KUR),” said Darmin Nasution at the Smesco Building on Wednesday, October 16.

Zilingo CEO and Co-Founder, Ankiti Bose, said women bear great capabilities that are not used to its full potential in the Asian economy. She states that women only contribute 24 percent to Southeast Asia and South Asia’s gross domestic product (GDP).

“We have thought of this and the situation has summoned us to act. SheWorkz will become the world’s decentralized manufacturing ecosystem. Airbnb has taught us that extra rooms in your house can become a hotel with a little investment and vision,” said Ankiti Bose.

The SheWorkz program involves multiple stakeholders apart from Zilingo, such as Bank Mandiri, BNI, and BRI, KUR loaner Jamkrindo and Askrindo, Cinta Berkain Indonesia community, What’s On Jakarta, Rimpu Indonesia Community, Indonesian Ethnic Designer Community, Indonesia Garment Training Center (IGTC), and the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU).
