TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan claimed that his administration is still competent in performing tasks without the presence of deputy governor. The position remains empty after Sandiaga Uno resigns in August last year to run a presidential race.
“It has been a year without a deputy, but alhamdulillah (all praise to God) all officials of Jakarta administration can handle all tasks well,” said Anies in the City Hall, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, Oct. 15.
The process of selecting a new deputy governor continues to be delayed. Gerindra Party and the Prosperous Justice Party or PKS as two supporting parties have not yet made moves even they have agreed to appoint candidates from PKS cadres.
Anies Baswedan further urges the new Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) to complete the discussion immediately. “We hope by the recent completion of the formation of board members, the new deputy governor can be tapped soon,” he added.
The party factions of PKS and Gerindra pledge that the replacement of Sandiaga will be announced before the new year, Gerindra faction member Muhamad Taufik reported in the DPRD executive meeting.
Jakarta DPRD PKS faction deputy head Abdurahman Suhaimi seconded Taufik’s statement. The faction head Arifin also stated that his party and Gerindra have agreed on the selection of the deputy governor, and his party was only waiting for the selection mechanism.
