TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Committee for West Papua (KNPB) spokesman Vic Yeimo denied that 13 suspects in the deadly riot in Wamena are members of his organization.

Papua Regional Police earlier named 13 suspects in the riot and identified most of them as parts of the KNPB and United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP).

“It is not true that those suspects are KNPB members. We did not involve in the riot in Wamena,” said Vic to Tempo, Tuesday, October 8.

Vic claimed that he had rebuffed the involvement of KNPB in the series of rallies in Papua and West Papua for many times.

The riot broke out on Monday, September 23 and claimed 30 lives. The police then identified 13 suspects who 10 of them have been detained, as reported by Papua Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Ahmad Mustofa Kamal.

The ten suspects are DM (19), RW (18), AU (16), RA (16), AK (19), DC (32), YP (22), ES (27), NT (27), and SK (40).

“We are still chasing the other three people,” said Kamal when asked for confirmation on Tuesday, Oct. 8, adding that the three were allegedly the provocateurs of the riot in the Papua's town.
