TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 27,000 joint personnel of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police will be dispatched to secure the inauguration of the president and the vice president, which is slated to take place on Oct. 20. All personnel will secure all of the central sites in the capital.

National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Asep Adi Saputra said today that other than in the capital, security measures would also be taken in all regions.

"Twenty thousand trained personnel are prepared, not only from the National Police, but also the TNI, local administrations, and related agencies," Asep confirmed to Tempo, Monday, Oct. 7.

He further explained all personnel were Mantap Brata troops that were tasked to secure the past simultaneous elections.

“In a series of democratic party events, the police establish Mantap Brata operations that will last until Oct. 21, 2019, after the inauguration of the president and the vice president. The troops will protect the upcoming event,” Asep said.

The presidential inauguration is scheduled to be held at the Parliament Complex. Incumbent President-elect Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Vice President-elect Ma'ruf Amin will take the oath of office on Oct. 20.

Asep ensured the security pattern would be similar to that held during the inauguration of the House lawmakers on Oct. 1. The police will apply three security rings: in front of the building, in the parking lots, and inside the building.
