TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that he supported the use of bicycles as the city transportation.

"We support the use of bicycle as transportation; and not just as a sporting tool," Anies said at Jakarta Convention Center, Central Jakarta, Saturday, September 7.

The former Education Minister stated that bicycles can be used as daily transportation, adding he has now been used to ride on the bicycle for daily activities.

Anies once posted himself bicycling to several locations in the capital city, such as Velodrome, Old Town (Kota Tua), East FLood Canal (BKT), etc.

"Bicycle is not a new thing for me," said the governor as he has been using bicycle since he was a student at Gajah Mada University, Yogyakarta.

The governor calls on the Jakartans to utilize bicycle to help their mobilities; and not focusing much on other additional tools such as special clothing, shoes, and so on, except the helmet.

In addition, Governor Anies promised to add more parking spots for bicycle in Jakarta.
