TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Java Regional Police asked Immigration Directorate-general to revoke the passport of human rights lawyer Veronica Koman who was recently named as a suspect for distributing fake news or hoaxes about the incident at Papuan dorm in Surabaya last month.

"We wrote a letter for the request of passport revocation of suspect Veronica Koman," said East Java Police Luki Hermawan in a press conference at his office on Saturday, September 7, adding that he had summoned Veronica to two different addresses in West Jakarta and South Jakarta.

The East Java Police and national police's international division are trying to confirm the whereabouts of West Papua National Committee's (KNPB) attorney who is suspected to be in one of the neighboring countries.

"Veronica lives with her husband in that country. Her husband is a foreign national and is also an NGO activist," Luki said.

Based on the investigation, Veronica received a scholarship from Indonesia and is studying abroad.

The East Java Police collaborate with national police's cyber team and state intelligence agency (BIN) to soon repatriate Veronica Koman. The police said she is the key suspect that can reveal the incident at Papuan student dorm in Surabaya.
