TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police officer Anton Wibowo testified in the May 22 riot trial at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, August 19. He said the police arrested a man suspected to be a member of Prabowo Subianto's campaign volunteer group during the riots.

In court, Anton Wibowo said he remembered arresting a man wearing a shirt that said 'Garuda Emas', which is the name of a volunteers group for president and vice president candidates Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno.

"Some were wearing clothes bearing the Golden Garuda. We arrested them, and so did other members [on duty] next to the Bawaslu Building," said Anton, member of the Jakarta Police.

Anton was one of the officers on duty during the demonstrations at Bawaslu Building, Central Jakarta. He testified in court against the seven defendants accused of throwing stones and bottles at the police that night.

The defendants are Rendy Bugis Petta Lolo, Abdurrais Ishak, Jumawal, Zulkadri Purnama Yuda, Vivi Andrian, Syamsul Huda, and Yoga Firdaus.

The police seized several black T-shirts with the inscription Garuda Emas or Golden Garuda.

Anton said he was not just arresting people who wore those T-shirts. He said he 'secured' everyone he considered to have no business being around Jalan Kampung Bali that night.

"The police have sterilized the road. We were only taking in people who had no business being there, whatever the reason," he said.

Anton said he arrested two or three people on the night of the riot. But he was unsure if any of the people he apprehended is among the seven defendants.
