TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A member of the police in Depok shot a fellow officer over an argument. Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said that seven bullets were fired.

Brig. Rangga Tianto used a Hudson H9 to shoot at Police Chief Brigadier (Bripka) Rahmat Efendy. He fired seven out of nine bullets.

"The number of shells was in accordance with those found, which was seven," Argo said in a written statement on Friday, July 26, 2019.

According to Argo, the bullets hit Rahmat Efendy's chest, neck, thighs and abdomen. The officer died immediately from the gunshot wounds.

The incident happened at the Cimanggis Sector Police on Thursday, July 25 at around 20:50.

At 20:30, Bripka Rahmat was securing a teenager involved in a brawl, Fahrul Zachrie, confiscating a sickle.

"Not long after, his parents came with Brig. Rangga Tianto," Argo said.

Rangga asked Rahmat to release Fahrul and hand him over to his parents. But Rahmat refused and stated that there is an inspection process to go through.

"He answered rather loudly, angering Rangga," Argo said.

Upset, Rangga took out his gun and fired shots at Rahmat. Rahmat's body was taken to the Kramatjati Police Hospital in East Jakarta.
