TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police's anti-terror squad Densus 88 this week will talk with representatives of several foreign embassies. The meeting is aimed at uncovering the network of international terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD).
"Densus 88 will exchange information with embassy officials to uncover JAD's network in Indonesia and internationally," The Police Headquarters' chief of information bureau Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said on Friday, June 26.
The police seek to establish cooperation with authorities of neighboring countries to track down the transfer of funds to Saefullah a.k.a. Daniel a.k.a. Chaniago. He is suspected of being one of the people in charge of the JAD network in Indonesia.
Saefullah is now on the police's most-wanted list and is believed to be in Kurasan, Afghanistan. According to the police, Saefullah is the person in charge of accepting terrorism funds from Trinidad and Tobago, the Maldives, Venezuela, Germany and Malaysia—wired using Western Union.
In addition to funding terror attacks, Saefullah also uses the money to buy weaponries and fund members to travel to Khorasan, Afghanistan.
The police are also collaborating with the Filipina police to track down Andi Baso, a JAD member suspected of launching a bomb attack at the Oikumene Church in Samarinda in 2016. It is believed that he is now in the South Philippines.
