Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport Resumes Operations Following Earthquake

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry assured that the operations of Bali’s Ngurah Rai international airport were not affected by the 6.0 magnitude earthquake that hit the province this morning. Flight schedules remain unchanged until this noon.
The ministry’s directorate general of air transportation made sure they had screened every public facility assets post-earthquake.
“Based on preliminary reports everything remains under normal and safe condition, every facility is ready to be used for service,” said the director-general of air transport Polana Banguningsih Pramesti in a written letter.
According to Polana, stakeholders must remain alert and prepared in the future even though AirNav flight navigation service facilities were reviewed to run normally.
Local Bali authorities reported that passengers were evacuated to a safe location during the earthquake and that airport management conducted a complete runway inspection and deemed it to be undamaged.
“The runway inspection only caused 5 flights to be held for 15 minutes,” said Elfi Amar, Head of Bali’s IV Airport Authority.
