TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Jakarta Council’s Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction, Abdurrahman Suhaimi, guarantees that his party is not involved in money politics throughout the search of a new Jakarta Deputy Governor.

“I can guarantee you that [money politics] will never happen,” said Suhaimi on Monday.

This is a direct response to a previous suspicion voiced by Indonesia Solidarity Party (PSI) Deputy Rian Ernest who suspected foul practices exists in the search for Jakarta’s deputy governor. He claims the information came from two political elites who he does not dare to mention.

Ernest was also silent in terms of the parties that are involved in the illegal practice.

Moreover, Suhaimi said that the process is being acted out normally, transparently, and professionally. He is also unaware of the individuals Ernest might be referring to.

Suhaimi asserts that the PSI politician must speak responsibly and throw allegations by backing them with strong evidence since such rumors would defame members of the parliament, especially the special committee formed specifically to find the replacement for former-Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno.
