TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party's Communication Division member Andre Rosiade predicts that Sandiaga Uno will return to the party. Andre claimed that Sandiaga had repeatedly said he would stick with Gerindra chairman Prabowo Subianto.
"Bang Sandi always said that he would stay with Pak Prabowo—following his steps, together forever," Andre said in Senayan, Jakarta, July 3.
According to Andre's observation, Sandiaga is very respectful of Prabowo. He also said that Sandi even stated that he would "follow Prabowo until his last drop of blood".
"You can ask him yourself, but my gut is telling me that he would return as a Gerindra cadre," Andre said.
Sandiaga joined Gerindra as a politician in 2015 and briefly served as deputy of the Board of Supervisors (Dewan Pembina). He was also tasked with chairing the campaign team for the party elections.
In 2018, Sandiaga Uno resigned when Prabowo asked him to run for vice president. He also stepped down from his position as deputy governor of Jakarta—a title he had for just 10 months.
When asked if he would return to Gerindra earlier this week, Sandiaga said that he had not received an offer from Prabowo.
"No offers from Pak Prabowo yet," he said on Monday, July 1.
