TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF) AeroAsia, a subsidiary of Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, is reportedly planning to expand its business by tapping into the potential market in Bangladesh.

Acting GMF President Director Tazar M. Kurniawan, said that this business expansion plan has only entered the discussion phase with local partners. He said that the plan emerged after Bangladeshi GMF customers requested for such move.

"Bangladesh is a developing nation with large potential. The main product we'll establish there will airframe maintenance works. However, there are not many for engine maintenance," said Tazar on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

GMF is optimistic that the business expansion will immediately be guaranteed by the market as Bangladesh air carriers have trusted their airplane maintenance to GMF.

Currently, GMF AeroAsia customers include Biman Bangladesh, Regent Airways, NovoAir, US Bangla, and Bismillah Airlines.

Tazar hoped that the expansion plan will run smoothly without any political or regulatory issues from both countries hampering the plan. GMF is currently also expanding its business to Australia, with branch offices established at Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.
