TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s digital economy business model will predictably improve at a rapid rate within the next 5 to 10 years according to the Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara.

He believes that the digital business that could potentially strive in the future is data exchange or data free flow with trust (DFFT).

“Our business model currently slashes the distribution chain such as transportation and agriculture. Within the next 5-10 years, more changes will come. Businesses will not be based on the current model, but also data exchange,” said Rudiantara at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Central Jakarta on Monday.

Countries currently engaged in this business model are all joined in the G7 which mainly exchanges private and non-private data.

Rudiantara said that Indonesia should start to develop DFFT and should start by developing the digital business on the non-private data model. This business model was discussed in a previous G20 meeting in Japan.

The Minister explained that DFFT is similar to “new oil” in the industry where it will surely be developed and improved.
