TEMPO.CO, Sukoharjo - The neighbors of Rofik Asharudin, the suspected suicide bomber of Monday’s Kartasura bombing, described the latter as a jobless man of reserved personality.
Kranggan Kulon village chief Sudalmanto said Rofik graduated from a Madrasah Aliyah (Islamic senior high school) around two years ago. “He only stayed at home after his graduation,” he told Tempo on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.

He explained Rofik once worked as a fried food vendor before he finally stopped the business, of which Sudalmanto was ignorant of the reason. “Sometimes he went out to hunt birds,” he said.
He added Rofik never interacted with his neighbors and was always absent from mass prayers at the local mushala (small mosque).
Sudalmanto said he was shocked upon hearing the news from social media that Rofik was the suspect of the Kartasura bomb attack. “We did not see it coming,” he said.
