TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police detained Hermawan Susanto (25), a male suspect currently undergoing 20-day investigative detention for threatening to behead President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
Police Spokesman Grand Commissioner Argo Yuwono explains Hermawan’s detention since Sunday, May 12, is for investigation purposes.
Hermawan is currently facing charges for crimes against state security and violation of the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE Law).
He temporarily fled to Bogor after a video of him went viral in social media, where he said; “I’m from Poso, ready to behead Jokowi, Jokowi should be prepared to be beheaded in the name of Allah.”
Adj. Grand Commissioner Ade Ary Syam promised to study Hermawan’s motives upon threatening President Jokowi and the connection between the suspect and the person recording the video.
