Treason Suspect Escape After Threat to Jokowi Goes Viral

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - HS, a suspect of an alleged crime of treason escaped after discovering that his threats towards President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo went viral on the internet. Deputy Director of the General Crime Division of the Metro Jaya Police Adj. Sr. Comr. Ade Ary Syam said that HS escaped to his family’s house in Parung, Bogor.
"The suspect ran away after finding out that what he had said was not true and went viral," Ade said during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police headquarter on Monday, May 13, 2019.
Ade said that the house in Parung belongs to HS' aunt. During his arrest, HS was lying on a bed.
The Police arrested HS at the Metro Residential Complex in Parung, Bogor Regency on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at around 8:00 AM. "[HS] was secured by officers in his aunt’s house in Parung," Ade said.
Following the arrest, investigators searched through HS' house in Palmerah, West Jakarta. Form the house, the Police confiscated bags, jackets, headcap, and mobile phone worn by HS during the suspected act of treason.
HS had previously said that he will behead President Jokowi. The threat was said during a demonstration in front of the Election Supervisory Agency's office on Friday, May 10, 2019. HS was charged with Article 104 of the Criminal Code, and Article 27 (4) in conjunction to Article 45 (1) of Law No. 19 of 2016 on The Amendment of Law No. 11 of 2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions.
