Belt and Road Summit; VP Jusuf Kalla to Meet China's Xi Jinping

TEMPO.CO, Beijing - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said Vice President Jusuf Kalla was scheduled to meet President of China Xi Jinping Thursday, April 25.
Retno said the Vice President arrived in Beijing, China on Wednesday evening and would attend the Belt and Road Summit or also known as One Belt and One Road (OBOR) taking place on April 26-27, 2019.
“Today, Mr. VP will have several agenda, including an honorary visit to President Xi Jinping and his Chinese counterpart,” said Retno in Beijing, Thursday, April 25.
The minister explained Kalla and Indonesian delegation will meet a number of CEOs of Chinese companies. The business forum is aimed at discussing the potential investment of the two parties.
The VP, she added, will attend all series of the summit event and business meeting with Chinese entrepreneurs. “The agenda of Jusuf Kalla will be full in One Belt and One Road forum, starting from its preliminary event until dinner with other delegations,” Retno noted.
During his visit until April 28, Kalla will also perform Friday prayer in Dongzhimen Mosque.
Several ministers of Working Cabinet accompanied the Vice President were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Minister of Research, Technology, and High Education Mohamad Nasir among others. The entourage also includes VP's secretary Mohamad Oemar, VP’s expert staff on economy and finance Wijayanto Samirin, and VP’s expert staffers Sofjan Wanandi, M. Ikhsan, and M. Awal Chairuddin.
