TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Air pollution apparently causes more deaths than smoking, a recent study says. Münzel et al from the Medical Centre Mainz University in Germany, said that air pollution caused almost twice the number of deaths than what researchers had thought.

The study stated that smoking is avoidable, while air pollution is not.
The report, published in the European Heart Journal, found that 8.8 million people died because of air pollution in 2015, while smoking killed 7.2 million.
