TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta’s transportation agency announced that it will impose tickets on online ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers who cause traffic disruptions by stationing in unauthorized locations.
Head of the agency Maruli Sijabat said he will work together with the police.
“We will work together with the police force to impose tickets,” said Maruli when reached by Tempo on late Thursday, March 21.

However, this does not mean that the Jakarta administration is only specifically targeting the drivers in the field, but is also urging the online ojek app administrators to work actively to control its drivers and preventing some of them from stopping in vital street areas that might cause traffic jams.
“[Ride-hailing app companies are] asked to actively engage in upholding the Minister’s Decree,” said Maruli who is referring to Transportation Minister’s Decree No. 12/2019 on the safety of motorcycle operators that serve the public.
