TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Police's anti-terror squad Densus 88 arrested a man allegedly linked to ISIS-affiliated terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) of Sibolga. M alias Abu Arkam was arrested on Tuesday, March 19, in Berau, East Kalimantan.
“He is detected from a communication network. He plans to carry out a terror act, targeting security officers,” said National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo today, March 20, at Tempo office building, West Jakarta.

Based on the police investigation, Abu Arkam had intensive communication with a number of suspected terrorists who were arrested earlier. One of the terrorists was Rinto, a.k.a. Putra Syuhad who was apprehended in Lampung on Saturday, March 9.
“Other than targeting security officer, M has a motivation to kill anyone badmouthing ISIS,” Dedi added.
Abu Arkam, he continued, had higher motivation to conduct acts of terrorism after the previous arrest of several suspected terrorists in Sibolga, North Sumatra.
The arrest of Abu Arkam added to the long list of suspected terrorists from JAD terror group arrested by the police. Within the past ten days, the police had nabbed eight suspected terrorists across Indonesian regions.
